About Us

XELA Robotics develops tactile sensing systems that give robots the ability to “feel”

About XELA Robotics

Founded in 2018 in Tokyo as a spin-out from Waseda University, our team combines 70+ years of research experience in robotics and tactile sensing.

We focus on practical applications of tactile data—improving how robots grasp, manipulate, and interact with real environments. Our goal is to make automation reliable, adaptable, and accessible across industries.

Message from the Founder

Japan faces a super-aging society,
with fewer young workers and growing demand for automation.

Yet robots still lack a key human ability—the sense of touch.

XELA Robotics was founded to address this gap.

By giving robots tactile feedback,
they can grasp, hold, and manipulate objects safely and reliably,
helping people and industries adapt to demographic change.
