RoboDEX 2025: Solving Real-World Challenges

At RoboDEX 2025, held at Tokyo BigSight in January this year, we presented the capabilities of our tactile sensing technology through two interactive demos. These demonstrations highlighted how our solutions enable robots to perform complex tasks with precision, adaptability, and a human-like touch.

Our demos were designed not only to showcase the technical strengths of tactile sensing but also to demonstrate how these features address real-world challenges across various industries.

Interactive Demos with uSkin Integration
  • UR5e with Hand-E: Demonstrated weight estimation and delicate object handling, showcasing precise force control.
  • ROBOTIQ 2F-85 Gripper: Highlighted fragile object handling and slip detection, emphasizing real-time tactile feedback.
Additional Showcases

Beyond the demos, we also presented:

  • Allegro Hand & Leap Hand: Fully integrated robotic hands with uSkin sensors.
  • Double-Sided Sensor: A solution for detecting contact on both surfaces.
  • Thin Sensor: An ultra-compact tactile sensor designed for applications where space is limited.
  • Custom Small-Sized Fingertip Sensors: Tailored solutions for specialized robotic grippers and hands.

From Demos to Real-World Applications

These demos demonstrated how tactile sensing enhances robotic handling by providing real-time feedback, allowing robots to adjust to the unique properties of each object across a wide range of applications:

Warehouse Piece Picking

With uSkin tactile sensors, robots can detect weight and hardness, adjusting their grip for unknown objects. They predict drop risks, refine their grasp, and detect slip in real time, preventing both slipping and excessive force. This ensures safe, precise, and reliable handling, improving efficiency.

Small Parts Assembly

In small parts assembly, uSkin can enable real-time misalignment detection, allowing robots to adjust screwing and insertion positions for accuracy. By detecting object geometries, robots could adapt to various shapes through self-learning. In wire harness assembly, force and position monitoring ensure secure, error-free connections for increased reliability and precision.

Delicate Picking & Sorting

For fragile objects, uSkin enables sensitive grasping, adjusting force for unknown items. By measuring weight and hardness, robots could select ripe fruits, optimizing harvest quality. Additionally, slip detection prevents drops, reducing waste and increasing yield, making automation smarter and more efficient.

Recruiting Employees and Agents

We also took the opportunity to connect with those who share our vision. At our booth, we posted a notice recruiting employees and distributors who support our business. If you’re passionate about robotics and innovation, we look forward to receiving your applications via the link below!
